Types of Projection Screens

Optical screen uses lens elements inside screen (single or double component)

Fresnel – series of concentric circles that bend the light forward
Advantage: decreases throw distance
Disadvantage: creates aberrations, different brightness, grooves get dirty or damaged, resolution limits
Lenticular – vertical lines that reduce vertical cone and concentrate light
Advantage: allows for a smaller lamp and greater sweet spot. Also, black lines cut out ambient light so it won’t wash out image.
